When Dreams Are Too Real

I had this dream last night that I was in a foreign country, not sure where, but I was dating this girl (that’s scary in and of itself!!) who was the daughter of some high priest of some kind. All of the people here wore long, flowing clothes that covered them from head to toe; sort of like Arabic or something. Anyway, everyone was to worship this high priest and they were very strict with their punishments for not following the customs.

At one point I had done something that I shouldn’t have and my girlfriend (eeewww!) held kind of like a trial where I had to face the high priest. For some reason I was in roller skates and standing in front of my girlfriends family and all of the people of the area. She commanded me to bow to the high priest as he approached but the platform that I was standing on was very uneven and my feet kept rolling out from underneath me. Since I couldn’t bow correctly to the high priest as he entered the arena, I had to be punished. So my girlfriend called in the guy that rendered the punishments. I begged her not to punish me and tried to explain why I was having trouble bowing but she wouldn’t listen. The punisher came out with a pair of wire cutters on a silver platter; I assume he was intending to cut off my fingers or something but I don’t remember what happened after that.

Another part of the dream I remember is that I was at my grandmother’s house, which was in the foreign country that I was in but it really was my grandmother’s old house. My girlfriend and her family and I were all gathered in the family room for some reason or another. I tried to stay away from the high priest as much as I could so I wouldn’t screw up and get punished for something. So there were some people sitting in chairs at one corner of the room and I was lying on the floor behind them listening to the Pet Shop Boys on my boom box. All of a sudden, one of the men in the room starting talking about the boy listening to the “gay” music and was pointing to me behind the chairs. They all started chanting “PUN – I – SHER! PUN – I – SHER!” I knew what this meant so I jumped up and ran for the kitchen where the door to the garage was, ran out the door, through the garage, out the garage door, and starting cutting through yards as fast as I could run trying to get away. I spotted a drainage ditch with a huge drainage tunnel underground and I ran into the tunnel. I then found a smaller tunnel that ran off of the main tunnel and I crawled in there to try and hide.

At this point I woke up in bed… running.

Where does this stuff come from?! LOL!

The Saga Continues...

Remember this? Well, if it ain't one thing, it's another. Last week I had an accident; just messed up the front bumper and blew another damn tire. While I was changing the tire, the car slipped off the jack and smashed my right hand between the thumb and index finger. Ouch.

Well, all I've been thinking about this week is the drama that I went through when I was rear-ended by the drunk driver who then fled on foot. Basically my insurance company jerked me around. I ended up paying $500 deductible, and $500+ for a rental car while it was being fixed. They sent me directly to one of their "preferred" body shops without having an adjuster even look at it. And then they turned my claim over to collections because they could not get the other insurance company to pay for it. So I was out $1000+... for something that was not even my fault. AND I had a police report.

Anyhoo... this time I said screw the police report (partly because I had been drinking anyway and didn't want to report it). I figured it wouldn't do me any good anyway. So I filed a claim with my insurance company. They set up an appointment to have it checked out by one of their adjusters, which I thought was odd because they didn't do that last time. So I went and did that this morning. He looked it over, told me how much the damages were probably going to be ($1700+) and then asked me if I was going to have the dealership do the repairs. WTF?!?! I said of course, if that was possible. And he cut me a check, less a $250 deductible this time (?) and sent me on my way.

What's up with that? I don't understand insurance companies sometimes. Oh well, hopefully when all is said and done it will be like this again!

How long will you live? Surviving...

This is an interesting little game that my aunt sent me. God only knows exactly how long I will live (and if I keep up like I have been it won't be long!) But according to this little exercise, I will live to be 74 years old... that's scary since I am over half way there already.

How long will you live? Click here to play the game.

BTW... on another note, I survived another weekend at B's... Yay! Two more people, however, were not so lucky, including long-time native Kitty LeClaw, formerly of the infamous Amorettes. I just keep crossing my fingers. My bartender Max and I have an on-going joke now of who is going to hold on to the "torch" the longest. No offense Max, but I have a feeling I'll win!

But will it be the same next time?

Is it just me or have you ever noticed that when you learn something at work that usually doesn't come up and then somewhere down the line it does come up again and the answer is not the same? Does that make sense or have I totally lost you? Let me explain.

I recently started doing a new position at my job. I was trained for 3 months by the lady who was retiring. It's hard to fit 40 years of experience in my tiny little brain, but I tried. Anyway, I remember a situation that we went over before she left and she said it didn't happen very often but told me what we needed to do to fix it. I wrote down each step she took me through and then labeled it so that I would be able to find the notes if it ever came up again. Well, it did. HOWEVER, we followed my notes to the letter to correct the situation and, well, that didn't work. So for the past few days we have been working with the programmers on how to correct the problem and they finally came up with a solution. So I took detailed notes on it... again... Now I wonder, if this comes up again in the future, which solution will work then?

Technology... go figure.

Who Will Be The Next To Leave The Island?

It's a running joke recently at B's that we never know who is going to be the next one to "pass the torch," so to speak. Management is on a firing spree... again... which seems kind of odd because it just happened recently as well. But anyway, the most significant part about all of this is that 2 of the 3 DJ's were fired last week; luckily I was not one of them. Yet.

So Friday night I picked up 4 extra hours training one of the new DJ's how to do the drag show. And Saturday, my weekend off mind you, I picked up 2 and a half extra hours training one of the other new DJ's. Now the good thing about all of this is, well, the extra money of course, and the fact that I have seniority makes me big headed! Guess I better be careful though in case the axe falls and removes this big head. And I now have my Sunday's back (Yay!) as well as every Friday, which gives me every Saturday off! And it was in ink on the new schedule before I left last night. Rock on!!

Somebody mentioned that they checked out my site this weekend... guess I better get on the ball and get it updated since the calendar still reads "A U G U S T 2 0 0 6!" Ooops!

Yeah, Yeah... Still Alive!

So, uh hem... it's been a while! But me still here.

Not much going on and SOOOOO busy at work I just don't have time to write it seems.

Hmmm... let's see... Well, I recorded a new CD recently. Haven't edited it yet or designed a cover of any sort, but I'll keep ya posted. You can pretty much call it a "new music preview." I tried to use songs that either I just have gotten or that I have not had a chance to play much yet. I think it turned out really good.

So if you haven't been to B's in a while, watch out... DRAMA! DRAMA! DRAMA! That's about all I can say about it. Seems they fired Jason, our DJ that took over John's shifts during the week. Now I don't know what they have planned as far as the karaoke shows and who's going to run them. But they know better than to ask me. I just hope by next weekend I still have a job. Keep ya posted on that one too...

Okay, that's about it. Anyone else notice how cool it has gotten? Guess summer is over.
