Flying Time

Man this week has flown! I guess with it being the last week for Billing gal and things have been really hectic trying to get me trained. Seems like something new still comes up every day. But we'll manage without her. She deserves to get out of here after 42 years! Tomorrow is her last day and already today everybody here was pretty much a basket case. Tomorrow is going to be hell!

Yesterday was Blanche's birthday. We celebrated by having drinks by the pool after work and then headed over to Woof's for dinner and birthday shots. I know I was home before 10pm but I don't remember getting home. LOL!

Tomorrow will be my first follow-up to the Dr. after starting me on "the meds." We'll see what he has to say. I don't really have much to report other than that first night taking them. I'm sure I'll have to wait until the next visit though to see how they're working. (For those of you who don't know about "the meds," I'll get into that another day. Not sure if I'm ready to share that with the whole world.)

Okay, just a quick update today. Time to head out. Toodles!

Here Comes The Rain Again

Well this was the third year in a row that we had rain... on Sunday... during the Pride parade. And this wasn't just a little rain. This was a downpour! And because the lightning got so bad at one point they cancelled the rest of the events for Sunday. Figures. The first Sunday that I haven't had to work and it gets rained out. But other than that we had a beautiful weekend for Pride. And thousands braved the rain and watched the parade anyway.

After I got home and got dried off I ventured over to B's. Here is a picture of the boys as we enjoyed the afternoon on the patio once it stopped raining. The place was packed from 3pm on but despite the mobs of queens I still managed to get my usual rail position for the show. The girls were fabulous as usual even after being up so early in the day for the parade... in full drag! Then I called it an early night and headed home.

Today I did not want to get out of bed and had I gotten my way in the first place I wouldn't have. But since my boss decided it was more important for me to be at work than to take a few days off to spend with my friends, I had to drag my ass in here.

Hope all had a grand weekend!

Pride Weekend

I thought that I would be writing more this week sharing my adventures of the “new meds.” Well, Monday was the hi-light and I guess it didn’t take long for my system to be used to them. I didn’t sleep well this week but not because of fabulous drug-induced dreams. I guess it was just the fatigue of worrying about how I was going to be affected each night. To tell you the truth, after the first two nights I don’t even notice now. Last night was the best night’s sleep I have had in ages. I guess I was pretty worn out from our company picnic we had Thursday at lunch. Also because it was the hottest day of the year so far!

So this weekend is Atlanta Pride weekend. Still not sure what I will be doing each night. I’m thinking I’ll just let things play out without really making any plans. I miss my J-Bear… I haven’t seen him in about a week now. I’ve been pretty much keeping to myself since Monday to see how I would be feeling. I’m starting to get a little restless but I don’t want to let myself go back to normal and then for some reason have a breakdown! LOL!

I will be at the Parade on Sunday for sure. And since I won’t be working at B’s afterward (…but I’m not bitter!) I will probably stick around at the park since I never have been able to the last few years. But there is only so much “gay” I can take in a day. It’s the nights that are going to bother me the most. I will want to be my usual self and stay out until wee hours of the morning partying but I’m going to be good and have myself in bed by at least midnight all weekend. I know, I know… those of you who know me are asking yourself “Midnight? Is he crazy?”

My First Night on "The Meds..."

As I lay there on my bed I feel my body getting lighter, as if I am floating on a cloud of sheets and blankets. “Huh, this isn’t too bad,” I think to myself. But then I decided I better roll over and try to go to sleep just in case there are any side effects that aren’t so pleasant. So I roll over and take one last look at the empty pillow beside me and then close my eyes.

Suddenly the room gets brighter as if someone turned on the light. I can see the pillow lying next to me. That’s not right, my eyes are closed. I open my eyes again just to see if someone had entered the room but it was dark. I close my eyes again only I don’t see a pillow next to me, I see a face; a mask of some sort. I am startled, but keep my eyes closed knowing it’s just the drugs playing tricks on me.

My bed starts spinning; first in one direction and then the other, floating up and down. I begin to feel a little nauseated. The room is very bright and I begin to see people all around me; people that I work with, friends, family. These people are comforting, yet there is something strange about them. Their faces and bodies morph into strange, almost cartoon-like images. It kind of reminds me of the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It is very real yet I know it isn’t.

There is so much going on in my head; things are just morphing and changing all around me from once scene in a movie to another. How can I sleep with all this going on? I have to get up… I need to pee.

I get up and look at the clock. I’ve been asleep for an hour and a half. No way, I haven’t been asleep at all! But I had been. I stepped out of bed and just about fall onto the floor. I catch my balance and proceed to the bathroom. God I feel like I have been drinking all night!

I get back in bed and close my eyes. I lay there quietly for a few minutes. Then the room gets bright again. The bed starts spinning. The mask laying next to me stares me in the face. Here we go again…

Sundaze...

Sunday, my friend Blanche and her man came over to my place and we hung out at the pool. It was so nice and relaxing and the weather was BEAUTIFUL! This is a picture of me (well, my toes anyway) and our pool.

This is a picture of Blanche giving me that "go to hell" look because I was taking her picture. She can be such a be-atch. (Love ya sista!)

So after a couple hours of relaxation we headed to Woof's for dinner and drinks. We decided to make this a "Sunday Thing" now during the summer. I have lived in our complex for about 4 years now and have only been to the pool twice; well, three times now. I figure I might as well get some use out of it!

Screen On The Green

I had the pleasure of taking part of Atlanta's Screen On The Green in Piedmont Park on Thursday. The movie that they showed was The Wiz, staring Dianna Ross as Dorothy and Michael Jackson as The Scarecrow. I had never seen the film so I was excited about going. I can say that it was interesting and we had a blast but I would never sit through the movie again. Now I know why I didn't go see it when it came out.

I took a few pictures from the park. The event spawned a huge turnout; larger than I had remembered from previous years. We got there very early and it was already almost packed. We managed to get right in the center of the screen about a third of the way back. The first pic is of my J-Bear with a view of the crowd to the South. The second pic is a view of the crowd to the North. And this was over an hour before the movie started so you can imagine the crowd once it got dark.

Overall the evening was wonderful. The weather was great and the company, as usual, was the most fun. I hope we will do this again this summer before the series is over.

Ear and Eye Candy

Sorry it's been a while. I tried to post yesterday but the server was down and I couldn't log in. So it's been a few days since I posted. I have been listening to the new Pet Shop Boys CD, Fundamental. As I said in previous posts, you must check out the album. The reviews are saying it is their best album since Very, and so far I agree. I discovered my favorite song on the bonus CD, Fundamentalism, which is a duet with Elton John. AWESOME song! It is called In Private and was originally written for and released by Dusty Springfield. This is a great remake and remix and if you come see me at B's on Saturday you'll definitely hear it.

So Blanche and I had lunch yesterday. We had a good eye-candy day. Here is a taste of one of the hotties that were spotted at lunch. He got out of his truck with no shirt on and was putting it on while walking up to the restaurant. I couldn't get my phone out quick enough to catch that but here is what I did catch.
We're so bad... and we're going to get caught one of these days. But until then, I'll keep posting our adventures. Enjoy!

Numb

So my new favorite song at the moment is a new track by the Pet Shop Boys called Numb, from their new album Fundamental. I have posted the lyrics below:
Numb

Don't wanna hear the news
What's going on
What's coming through
I don't wanna know
don't wanna know
Just wanna hide away
make my my escape
I want the world
to leave me alone
Feels like I feel too much
I've seen too much
For a little while
I want to forget

I wanna be numb
I don't wanna feel this pain no more
Wanna lose touch
I just wanna go and lock the door
I don't wanna think
I don't wanna feel nothing
I wanna be numb
I just wanna be
wanna be numb

Can't find no space to breathe
World's closing in
right on me now
Well that's how it feels
that's how it feels
Too much light
There's too much sound
Wanna turn it off
Wanna shut it out
I need some relief
Think that like I think too much
I've seen too much
There is just too much
thought in my head

I wanna be numb
I don't wanna feel this pain no more
Wanna lose touch
I just wanna go and lock the door
I don't wanna think
I don't wanna feel nothing
I wanna be numb
I just wanna be
wanna be
taken away from all the madness
Need to escape
escape from the pain
I'm out on the edge
about to lose my mind
For a little while
For a little while
I wanna be numb

I don't wanna think
I don't wanna feel nothing
I wanna be numb
I don't wanna feel this pain no more
Wanna lose touch
I just wanna go and lock the door
I don't wanna think
I don't wanna feel nothing
I wanna be numb
I just wanna be
wanna be numb
I just wanna be
wanna be numb

Words and music: Diane Warren
It's a very pretty song... the lyrics are a little dark, but I still like it. You can check out more on their Web site. The first single from the new album, I'm With Stupid, is supposed to be Tony Blaire singing about President Bush. It's a hoot if you listen closely to the lyrics!

Oh... and buy the new album... it's the bomb!

Dull... Bored... Hmmm, sounds like me.

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day holiday. I didn't get to do quite everything I wanted to on the extended weekend, but it was a nice break from work nonetheless.

I haven't been on here for a few days... been kind of busy. Got another busy weekend coming up. The Woof's softball team is doing a fundraiser on Friday night at Woof's and then Saturday there is a big bowling fundraiser. Sunday, J-Bear is off to Augusta so I have to take him to pick up his rental car. Then of course I will be spinning again Sunday afternoon.

Wow... that doesn't really sound busy - does it? Oh well...

Okay so I have already bored myself to tears so I imagine that the rest of you are bored as well. Gotta go catch up on some other blogs and then hit the sack. I'll try to find something interesting to write about later.

Night!
